iOS 5.0.1 Upgrade
Information is available on the upgrade at
http://technologyspectator.com.au/smart-devices/mobility/apples-ios-501-should-you-upgrade
According to Apple, there are a number of highlights in the 5.0.1 update. It fixes bugs affecting battery life, adds Multitasking Gestures for the original iPad, resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud, and improves voice recognition for Australian users using dictation.
However, one important element not getting the necessary attention is that the update also fixes a number of security flaws, including a remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability involving font handling. RCE means that a cybercriminal might be able to trick your device into running software without asking you, even if you're just browsing the internet.
It is suggested that the update be done by going to Settings-Software Update.

Analyst suggests iCloud's services as important as iTunes
From http://www.tuaw.com/2011/11/09/analyst-suggests-icloud-services-as-important-as-itunes/s_most_important_apple_service_since_itunes.html
Analyst Ben Reitzes of Barclays Capital has released a report declaring iCloud as the
most important service Apple has put together since iTunes. iTunes revolutionized the way people buy music and content online; Reitzes suggests that iCloud will be a similar revolution that transitions the main hub for digital content from the PC, iPad, or TV into the cloud itself. We already know Apple is planning on making a big investment into iCloud and its infrastructure, and Reitzes says that investment will come in many forms, including connections with partners to share and spread the data stored on Apple's servers....

Game - Words with Friends
I'm hooked on this word game. The paid ($2.99) version is well worth it to avoid the interruptions. I go to bed with it at night to keep up with West Coast players and have to be sure to turn off the sound while I sleep.

Top iPad Apps for Windows Users
Two articles by Woody Leonard
iTunes can
transfer videos in MP4 format from PC to iPad using Movies app.
Remote
control of a PC is suggested to be done by free TeamViewer app.
The second
article notes Powerpoint show on the iPad with Slideshow Remote app.
Photo editing
can be done with free PhotoShop Express app.
For
transferring files, free Dropbox is suggested (I like using alternate
EverNote).
For text,
spreadsheet or presentation editing, iWork is suggested using Apple’s formats
at $9.99 for each app. There is nothing for editing Office documents.
Editing PDF
files can be done with Goodreader $4.99 (I’m using the alternate PDF Expert
$9.99).
